Finding Inner Peace During the Holiday Season
At first, it’s easy to avoid feelings of restlessness. However, the more we try to ignore them, the larger our problems can become. Eventually, we must face how we feel because our emotions will present themselves, whether we want them to or not. This is especially true at the end of the year when we start reflecting on our accomplishments and the things we can do better in the future.
One of the basic needs we all have is finding inner peace. The best way to meet this need is to find peace with the past and the present. We also need to be at peace with our thoughts about what has happened. Without this underlying need being met, a person will be unable to truly value all the great things that have in their life.
Without acceptance and letting go, we cannot find peace, meaning our feelings of dissatisfaction or restlessness will remain. With the end of the year fast approaching, Beauty ‘N Fashion wanted to write down a few ways you can find inner peace and happiness during the holiday season.
Stop Looking Back
There’s no way to go back or to change the past. Continuing to focus on what you could have done differently will only hold you back. Instead, take note of your actions during the past year – any mistakes you’ve made, the good times you’ve had. Then, use that knowledge to drive your future. This will make you a stronger person. Plus, putting past mistakes behind you is freeing and opens up endless possibilities for the future.
Avoid Looking Too Far Ahead
You’ll never find peace by focusing on your past, but the same can be said about focusing too far into the future. It’s important to remember that reaching the largest goals in our life takes time. Focusing on one large goal can be as overwhelming as focusing on all the mistakes of the past. We also have a habit of focusing on what could happen. Doing this takes us out of the present, which creates unrest. Instead, stay focused on what you can do right now. If you have a large goal, break it into smaller goals to help you get started. Eventually, these small steps will lead to great results.
Embrace an Abundance Mindset
An abundance mindset means that you believe there are more than enough successes and resources in this world to share with others. People with this mindset never see other’s wins as their own loss. Instead, they share openly. Feeling like there is never enough will cause stress and anxiety. A “cup is half full” attitude will make it easier to embrace change, experience new things, and work towards your dreams, all of which will help you on your journey to find inner peace.
Trust the Timing of Your Life
In life, there are very few things that are truly in our control. We stress ourselves out trying to make things happen, but then get upset when things do not go according to plan. We forget that life is unpredictable.
Instead, we need to make peace with the fact that, even if we try as hard as possible to control everything around us, things rarely end up exactly as we planned. It’s these unexpected outcomes that will create some of the happiest moments in your life, if you let them. By being mindful in the moment and trusting the timing in your life, it will be easier for you feel at peace.
Find Peace
Stay present in the moment. Breathe. Trust yourself, accept, and let go. This holiday season, we recommend you focus on here and now by spending time with family. Disconnect from work or your phone and focus on other things you enjoy, such as reading or sitting by a fire. Be easy on yourself and those around you. Take the end of the year as a great opportunity to find peace with what has happened. That way, you can move into the new year optimistic and ready for the endless opportunities that will come your way.
